NCDA’s Advocacy Institute NCDs and UHC Accelerator Programme (Year 2- 2021)

Hriday > Projects > People-centered approach > NCDA’s Advocacy Institute NCDs and UHC Accelerator Programme (Year 2- 2021)

In 2021, HIA worked towards strengthening the outcomes of the Situational Analysis on NCD and UHC undertaken in 2020.  The Situational Analysis highlighted the need to address access related issues faced by people living with NCDs to address the NCD burden.  With an aim to engage vulnerable and hard to reach populations in discussion and action related to identifying priorities to make the health system more people-centric, HIA involved stakeholders at sub-national levels, in two Indian states, namely Maharashtra and Punjab to undertake a strategic priority mapping, of current efforts towards meaningful engagement of PLWNCDs leading to identification of key priorities for a people-centered NCD agenda for reorienting the health system to be more responsive to the demands of the community.

Objectives

  • To advance the advocacy priorities identified in the HIA Situational Analysis Report (2020-2021), that focused on the need for a people-centred National and sub-national NCD response, within the UHC and COVID-19 contexts.
  • Objective : To support the development and dissemination of the Global Charter on Meaningful Involvement of People Living with NCDs.
  • Publications: Op-Ed in Hindustan Times on 31st December (link below) “Involvement of people living with non-communicable diseases” and an abridged version in Indian Medical Parliamentarians Forum winter session.
