NCDA’s Advocacy Institute NCDs and UHC Accelerator Programme (Year 3 -2022)

During 2022, HIA aimed to augment multi-stakeholder engagement to promote a people-centred and sustainably financed response to NCDs in India. HIA continues efforts at the national and sub-national level to embed a people-centered approach within NCD prevention and control. HIA sought the opportunity to identify how to embed meaningful involvement in the renewal of the National Multi-Sectoral Action Plan for Prevention and Control of Common NCDs – 2017-22 (NMAP). HIA also worked towards collective action towards integrated care between health sectors, and drawing on evidence on the economic burden of NCDs, called for an increase in investments for NCDs in the country.

Objectives

  • Develop and seek multi-stakeholder buy-in for recommendations towards inclusion of People Living with NCDs as key stakeholders in the national and sub-national (Maharashtra and Punjab) response to NCDs.
  • Identify strategies for advancing collective action on NCDs and UHC, by CSOs and People Living with NCDs, through learnings and best practices from the HIV and TB movements.
  • Make a case for increased investments for NCDs through multi-stakeholder engagement.
