About HRIDAY

HRIDAY is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to promote sustainable health, particularly among youth, in multiple settings, including schools, colleges, workplaces and the community at large. HRIDAY engages in multidisciplinary research and capacity building, and undertakes campaigns linked to the prevention and control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). HRIDAY addresses NCDs from a health and development perspective, particularly in the context of Goal 3.4 under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Job Description

NIHR Global Health Research Centre for Multiple Long-term Conditions, funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research UK, to establish a Centre for improving the lives of people with multimorbidity or multiple long-term conditions. Through research, community engagement and involvement and research capacity strengthening, the Centre aims to improve patient care through co-designed interventions. The Centre will build the capacity of researchers and research supporting staff in the lead and co-applicant institutions. The Research Assistant will support the Centre’s ongoing community engagement and involvement activities. The candidate will play a crucial role in coordinating and managing CEI related field activities in Visakhapatnam. This role requires a proactive, organised individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and community representatives. The Research Assistant will work closely with the Research team at HRIDAY, New Delhi, and CCDC, Visakhapatnam to assist in the implementation of CEI activities of NIHR GHRC for the MLTCs project. At present, 1 position is available at the organisation, with the location in Visakhapatnam.

Responsibilities

  1. Conduct and coordinate CEI-related field activities (quantitative/qualitative) at the Jodhpur site, ensuring compliance with project timelines and objectives.
  2. Collect data at study sites and build the capacities of community champions and care coordinators through training
  3. Liason with community members, government representatives, and other stakeholders.
  4. Transcribe and translate qualitative data and conduct thematic analysis, develop project reports, and provide regular updates to Supervisors in a timely manner.
  5. Build and maintain positive relationships with local stakeholders, community champions, community leaders, and project partners.
  6. Join external networks to share information.

Requirements

  1. Educational qualification – Master’s degree in social science/anthropology/public health or related field.
  2. Experience – A minimum of 1-3 years’ relevant experience in public health, specifically in NCDs, is desirable. Proven experience in conducting field work and stakeholder management.
  3. Communication skills – Strong communication skills and interpersonal abilities.
  4. Field visits – Flexibility to travel to field sites within Visakhapatnam District.
  5. Essential – Ability to collect field data (quantitative/qualitative) and basic analysis, organise, and prioritise work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  6. Languages – Proficiency in English and Telugu languages (Local dialect)
